Thin Blue Line

She looked down at the blue line.
Thin, but unmistakable.
She felt her body had betrayed her,
Hosting another,
When she could barely look after herself.
What should she do?
Every option seemed wrong to her.
Each a betrayal:
One of herself,
The other of this baby to be,
This microscopic mass of cells
Which had thrown her world into a maelstrom.
Devoid of answers,
She wept.
