Old Hat

This hat was old now.
You could tell by the creases
From repeatedly being forced on a too-large head.
This hat had lived life.
You could tell
By the stains in the ragged sweat band.
Where this hat had not been
Was not worth going.
What this hat had not seen
Was not worth knowing.
It had sat atop many heads.
But now,
This hat was done.

  2. Your word-picturing is fabulous! Would it be an old stetson or 10-gallon hat…coming apart at the seams? 🙂
