Deadheading

The flower,
Once deadheaded,
Springs into bloom once more.
Are we so different
From our petalled counterparts?
Should we really hold dear
The parts of life that need deadheading?
Or would the courage
To rid ourselves of malice, ill and misfortune,
Allow us to flourish,
And to bloom once more?

I reviewed a bouquet & one of the things I had to do (it was in the instructions!) was take off the guard petals on the roses. Felt very strange ‘destroying’ a rose but goodness me, they grew & grew in the vase & lasted 3 weeks! We all have hidden talents that need revealing xxx
