The only thing we felt was love today;
A love for life and a man, great.
Today was void of pity, hurt or shame,
The last thing on our minds was hate.
We drank to you and toasted memories,
Of good times passed, of smiles had.
A lifetime’s worth of loving not forgot,
And of that life of good, we felt so glad.
And so you’re gone in body, dust to dust,
But you are ever in our minds,
As we think of times of love and hope and care,
Our hearts forever buoyed by one so kind.
For my Grandpa on the day of his funeral and remembering my grandma whose funeral fell a decade ago today.
