Emotional Genuity

In an instant your mood changes
From despair
To jubilance.
Joy seen through the last moment’s tears.
I envy the way children can do this;
Cycling through emotions
As if flicking through a colour chart.
You find the one that fits the moment;
That looks right and feels right,
And you embrace it fully,
Feel it completely,
Live it unreservedly;
Until a new moment comes to pass.
I admire your genuity,
Though it tires me so.
