Alone with the Birds

She was alone,
But for the sound of the birds
And the troubles on her mind.
As the sun rose,
The birds called louder
And more beautifully,
Their many chorded song
Crowding out her troubles.
She rested, alone but for the birds,
And let their presence fill her ears and mind;
A balm for her soul.
She walked through the forest,
Discarding her worries
Like a trail of crumbs.
She would gather them later,
And reexamine them;
But for now,
She was at peace,
Alone, but for the company
Of the birds.
