Tumbling Down

How could it be, he wondered,
That one minute, things were fine.
It was a good day of sunny mind,
Then, for no reason, he suddenly
Fell
In
A
Hole?
Climbing out
Took far longer
Than falling down.
He had to fight his way,
Gripping with bleeding fingertips,
Unsure what had caused his descent
And whether it might jump back out and
Trip
Him
Again

See when there’s a trigger, however bizarre or small that’s one thing but when it feels a good day and then suddenly everything is unbearable, that’s even tougher somehow.

      Sorry you get it..

  2. Some days are like that Pooky, I am beginning to understand more and more about depression as so many friends are in its grip…..

Yes! I’d forgotten entirely about this poem and had to revisit it to understand your comment. I can rarely remember my poems after the fact, revisiting them is often interesting. Preparing my book was like discovering a new poet, some of her words really resonate with me 😉
