The World Felt Vast

The walls closed in
The ground fell fast,
And though she knew
It couldn’t last,
She wasn’t sure
That she could bear
The panic;
It made her so scared.

She felt like she would
Surely die,
Her shoulders heaved
With sighs and cries.
She felt so small,
The world so vast,
Her heart was beating
Far too fast.

Her skin was drenched
With sweat and tears;
Her body’s way
To express fears.
She knew today
That she’d survive.
She hated that.
She was alive.
