Held Against Her Will

She could not leave the cocoon of her bed.
Depression kept her there,
Held down by long claws and a bony hand,
Its talons sinking into her flesh,
Paralysing her,
Fuelling her fear and catatonia.
She felt a scream
Growing in her belly,
But it would not be allowed to escape,
A choking, gagging hand made sure of that.
She wanted to leave,
She wanted to scream,
She wanted to live.
But she was kidnapped by depression.
So instead,
She lay, shaking,
Assaulted repeatedly,
By her own mind.
