[A poem for my husband on our 7th Anniversary]
Each year this day approaches,
With alarming speed and grace,
Bearing down upon us,
Making life feel like a race.
We shake heads in confusion,
How can another year have passed?
What is it that we’re doing
Which makes the years pass by so fast?
Is it because we’re always busy,
Or because we’ve kids in tow?
Is it because we’re always planning,
What to do and where to go?
Perhaps it’s much more simple,
And the reason life flies by
Is because we’re good together
And can march strong side by side.
Seven years since we were married,
It’s still real, we don’t pretend,
Each day imperfect perfect,
We march on, the best of friends.
