You gave your seat

You gave your seat
You gave it gladly
But she took it,
Somewhat sadly.
Sad that she was old and grey,
And made you give your seat away,
To let her rest her weary bones,
Amongst commuters glued to phones.
She was sad,
But happy too
Because the kindness shown by you,
She’d grown unaccustomed to;
And so your gesture made her smile,
For at least a little while.

    This is a super poem Pooks but reminds me how sad I felt when someone young offered me a seat! I was sad that I looked like I needed it. Doesn’t happen here but it was in Singapore when they offered both Nick & I a seat.
