Unconditional

I never knew the meaning
Of unconditional love
Before you.
Love with no boundaries
No rhyme
No reason.
Love so big
It terrifies me.
Why do you love me?
You ask
As you fold yourself into my arms.
I have no answer…
Because I’m your Mummy,
I say.
I’ll love you always
I say,
No matter what.
I hope you understand that.
I hope you feel it
To your core.
I hope you know
I couldn’t love you more.
One day you’ll understand
When your own infant
Holds your hand.
