Tangled Hair

I take your hand
And you take mine
And with that act
I know I’m fine;
I know we’re fine
Though times are tough
Because I love you;
That’s enough.
You look beyond
My tear-stained face,
You don’t mind
I don’t dress with grace
And tangled hair
And un-shined shoes
Are things I don’t like,
I don’t choose
But are picked for me,
That’s the way
My brain is functioning today.
And whilst I turn in on myself,
And rail against my mental health,
You open up
Your arms to me,
Reach out a hand
And let me see
That even on the hardest days
When we’re together,
There’s a way.
