When You’re Five

Each day is different and new
When you’re five,
You learn such a lot
Just by being alive.
You get some things right,
And you get some things wrong,
And you’re doing and learning
The whole new day long.
But it’s tiring,
And sometimes
You just want to stop;
If you don’t, you burn out,
And you flap and you strop,
And you scream and you shout,
And you grizzle and whine.
Then you eat and you sleep,
And you wake up just fine.
Because life’s an adventure
When you are aged five
But it can be SO tiring
Just being alive.
