The Lost Summer

They lost the summer that year
In a flurry of rain clouds
And theme parks
And good times
And bad times
And friends pitching in
And mum pitching out
And making memories
And breaking memories
Of understanding,
And misunderstanding
And holding on by the tips of their fingers.
Back to school tomorrow.
Six short weeks.
A world turned on its head
A summer lost
But soon forgotten.
New term
New start
New memories to make.
