Shiny Shoes

Shiny shoes
Stiff and polished
Ready for a new term.
The excitement is palpable.
Crisp shirts
And new skirts
Sit waiting for their cue.
Small minds await feeding,
And friendships are ripe
For rekindling.
Shoes will lose their shine,
As they wear in
And scuffs appear,
Friendships, However, will blossom,
Growing shinier by the day.
