Creeping Ivy

The ivy crept closer to the windows each year,
Working its way quietly over the house’s facade,
Invading cracks and crevices
Leaving no brick uncovered.
Soon the windows would be obscured,
The door choked,
By the dark and poisoned ivy
That you never saw grow…
