Groundhog Day

It all felt a bit too familiar.
It all felt a bit too the same.
She thought that this time would be different,
Without guilt, without hate, without shame.

She wondered whose fault it became now,
This sameness of place and of mind,
She wanted to search for some answers,
But she couldn’t – too scared what she’d find.

She thought she could go along with it,
Ignore the non-change, turn away.
But her mind and her body betrayed her
The awkwardness felt here to stay.
