Reunion

They ran to greet her,
As if she had been gone for a year,
Not a day.
Pudgy fists filled her hands,
And slender arms wrapped tightly
Round her legs.
They hugged her hard and long,
Fearful of letting go.
They stood,
All three,
Embracing,
Fitting a day’s worth of love into a minute.
And then they carried on
With their day.
