Last Steps

Waiting for the line to clear,
To jump aboard a train.
You jumped beneath one earlier,
In wind and driving rain.
I can’t imagine how you felt,
The train approaching fast,
Was it courage, faith or sheer despair
That made those steps your last?

  1. This is harrowing Pooky. We can never know what was going through a persons head to lead them to a decision such as this.

  2. A very sad poem,so traumatic for the person involved, who knows what drove her to this, but equally so for the train driver.
