Road to Recovery

The path was a long one
And not at all straight,
But the reward at the end
Was well worth the wait

Each step felt like twenty,
Wind blew in her face,
But sure and determined
She kept up the pace.

Sometimes she went backwards,
When she lost her way
But with the guidance of others,
Not long did she stray..

..From the path of recovery,
Her prize at the end
She ran, walked and limped there
With the help of a friend.

A beautiful poem of recovery and so true that one can never do it all alone…however present…sometimes support leans in the shadows but it’s always there.
