Function and Beauty

His web is a unique creation.
Engineering meets art
As his silken threads entwine
To make his home.
Rarely do function and beauty
Cohabit so perfectly as here.
If man made webs
We would wonder at our genius,
But the spider’s nighttime toil
Is dismissed with the bat
Of an impatient hand;
His endeavour viewed merely
As an inconvenience.
And so he starts again.
