Good Days, Bad Days

Some days I long
To soar high
And fly free
Like an eagle,
I’d watch
The world
Far beneath me.
But some days I long
To stay
Closed up inside
In a big padded box
From the World,
I would hide.
I can never be sure
What tomorrow will bring,
Will I crouch down and whisper
Or stand tall and and sing?
Will I embrace the world
With a smile on my face
Or keep myself hidden
Feeling like a disgrace?
I embrace the good days,
And battle the bad,
Because some days I’m happy
But some days I’m sad.

That is my struggle, self permission to have bad days and not get more upset about it. Very challenging at present.

  6. Powerful poem, Pooky.
I’m working on embracing the bad days as well as the good because, for me, fighting them just depletes me more. Ultimately they are both part of the yin and yang of life. x

I’m not so good at embracing bad days but I’m getting better at accepting them. How is embracing them working out for you? X

      • Oh Pooky, it is such a work in progress for me. In the last two weeks i’ve been dealing with – being surrounded by burglary, bullying, grief, fear of being a burden, a sense if being alone as opposed to lonely…
The only way to survive for me is to try to embrace that which fills me with fear and anxiety. I’m so aware of the absence of my ‘Safe Place’. Such a beautiful poem, Pooks. xx

I’m sorry to hear this Tricia. It sounds terrifying. Is there anything I can do to help? X

      • Pooky, I’ll message you privately Monday. I’ve my health psychologist and the nurse who discerns my care needs coming tomorrow. Life has been rough, but hearing about and looking at photos of Lyra and Ellie’s adventures is a life giving tonic for me. As are yours and others poetry blogs. xx

  7. I can see what you mean, I’ve had some bad days, sometimes for no apparent reason, but then the sun breaks out and confidence returns, its a matter of time.
