Dear Wayne

You may not walk among us,
But you’re with us every day,
You’re with us when we see the things
That make us stop and say
Wayne would really love that…
Do you remember when…?
Do you miss Wayne? I wish he could
Be in my arms again.

You’re gone, but not forgotten,
Forever in our hearts,
Each day ends in your embrace,
With thoughts of you, days start.
Some love can last a lifetime,
Some love endures beyond,
The love you gave, the love you shared,
Is your eternal bond.

We’re sad that you have left us,
And we miss you every day,
But we’re glad you’re not in pain now,
Please know we’ll find a way,
To make sure you’re remembered,
To help the girls to know their Dad,
So they will know, though time was short,
You’re the best they could have had.

We’ll talk about you often,
We’ll laugh, and shed some tears,
And make sure our beloved Wayne,
Walks with us through the years.

[For Wayne, who died a year ago today. His wife asked me to write a poem for him. I’ve never found anything so hard to write]
