Poetry Prompt 46 – Heirloom

write a poem which imagines the story behind an heirloom

Today’s prompt is to write a poem which imagines the story behind an heirloom.

You might like to consider:

  • Should you choose a family heirloom about which you know the story, or something else?
  • Should you try to tell an accurate history or imagine a new past for the item?
  • Who has used it, when, why? How did you come to know of it / own it or see it?
  • What do you imagine its future holds?

Happy reading, happy writing -and if you do write, don’t forget to post your poem (in full or as a link) in the comments below so we can all enjoy it.
