A New Beginning

The sadness induced
As the last page is turned
Of a novel
That has absorbed,
Enthralled,
Delighted
And intrigued,
Is matched only
By the eager anticipation
Afforded by a virgin paperback;
Spine unbroken,
Pages unturned,
Story, as yet, unfurled.
A new beginning.

Today’s prompt is to write a poem which is about a new beginning.

    J’aime bien l’idée du nouveau départ, mais j’avoue que la poésie imposée n’est pas mon fort !

    Really captured the joyful anticipation of a new book, and the sadness of ending one. Did we have this conversation, or am I recalling something else?

      Yes I think we did because I finished The Time Traveler’s wife between our meetings. I often find I miss the characters before completely forgetting everything about them!

      I’m currently reading a book about a leper colony which is fantastic.
