The Hand of Friendship

A life that’s full and happy
Is a gift that you should share,
Is there someone in your life
Who needs to know you care?
Would the hand of friendship
Make their life feel more complete?
Or would a little of your time
Help them find their feet?
You can really make a difference
With a little love and care,
When things are good in your life
And you make the time to share.

    Lovely message.
Just a thought about the ‘share and care’ – it might be even more effective if the repetition is restructured to show more clearly that it is intentional, with some form of reference back … or else replacements could be found?

  8. This really touched me today. My friend’s husband has just passed away. She’s thousands of miles away and we’ve been in touch daily by email. It’s hard to know what to say so I agonise over every message, but your poem has inspired me. She needs to know I’m thinking of her.

I’m so sorry to hear about this – I agree wholeheartedly that she needs to know you’re thinking of her. SO often in these situations people don’t know what to say so they end up saying nothing but if we were in her shoes I’m sure we’d prefer any form of contact even if it was clumsy and awkward and stilted at first? xxxx
