Broken Trust

[This is not about me and my husband]

Without trust,
We’re nothing,
It’s all that we’ve got.
The rest incidental,
Without trust we’re not
One, we are two,
Not a pair,
But two halves,
Who once were a whole,
But who now do a dance
Around issues that matter,
And people who care,
Pretending we’re normal,
The problems not there.
But once trust is broken,
Those two halves divide.
The problems sit stony,
Forcing a wide
Gap in-between us,
Where once there was love,
Now only indifference,
And that’s not enough.

  1. This is so good Pooky. Losing trust can kill a relationship, and if it doesnt kill it then it can never be the same again. And it is said that indifference is worse than any stronger feeling such as hate. Now Im geting intto deep waters! Time for a duppa! Lol xx

I agree… indifference is a bad place indeed.

Do you think you an ever truly forgive once trust is shaken?

      • I dont think you can, or at least it leaves a stain even if you have forgiven, or thought you had. “They” say forgiveness is not necessarily for the benefit of the other person but more to give youreslf some peace and be able to move on, either with or without the other person in your life. But I find the whole forgiveness thing very complicated and very dificult. Therefore I tend to keep it all tucked away somewhere because when I bring it out to have another look at it I find I berate myself for not understanding it and not being able to do it. X

I find it very hard too. It’s something I’m actively working on.

  2. Such an accurate depiction of trust, for without it nothing exists, you are right we are two not one. Excellent Pooky.

Very poignant. Very true. Broken trust simply breaks a person’s soul.

    Trusting
    That trust
    Exists
    Is a must
    For relationship
    Bonds
    To last
    And not rust
