Christmas Cheer

Where is the Christmas cheer dear,
I can’t seem to find it at all?
Have you tried behind all of the presents love,
As yet unwrapped in the hall?
Or right at the back of the fridge love,
With the hundreds of sprouts yet to chop,
Or in place of the butter and cream dear,
Quite forgotten in our Christmas shop…
Or maybe atop the piano,
Nestling with all the cards yet to write,
Or sitting on our Christmas tree dear,
Among needleless branches so bright,
Or maybe we lost it out shopping dear,
Amongst all the shoppers’ foul moods,
We might absently have put it down love,
Whilst meandering in endless queues.
I’m really not sure where we left it,
But it’s time that we found it, I’m sure
We have more in the kitchen, back left, dear,
You hold the glasses, I’ll pour.

  1. Lovely Pooky, and a merry Christmas to you and your family. Today is Christmas in Australia and as we get to test it out before it reaches you let me say I am pleased you found your Christmas cheer. Lucky it comes in bottles eh?

The time difference always throws me! I just can’t get my head around the idea that you’ve had your Christmas by the time we start ours, yet my sister in San Francisco would just have gone to bed on Christmas Eve…

Bahaha! Wonderful surprise ending, was wondering if it was autobiographical at first. Liquid inspiration!
