Self-Belief – A Triolet

I’m the only thing that stops me,
I constructed that glass ceiling.
Sometimes I’m blind. I cannot see
That I’m the only thing that stops me.

If I surge, ambition’s set free
Winning is there for the taking;
I’m the only thing that stops me,
I constructed that glass ceiling.

Self-Belief - A poem by Pooky

[Today I’ve been brave and taken on one of Cubby’s poetic challenges – to write a Triolet.  I found it hard. You can join in and read other people’s efforts here.]

    Nicely done Pooky! I can imagine that it must be hard to do! I have never taken up any of Cubby’s challenges- I am too chicken to try. Maybe one day….. 😉

  2. Oh Pooky this is great and just beautifully stated. A perfect truth, really. We are our own limitations!

      Thank you! I have been struggling a bit lately but today I had a GOOD day. I wrote nearly five thousand words (I’m writing up my PhD thesis) and I ran faster than I’ve run before and I realised it was simply because I decided I could – which inspired me to take on Cubby’s challenge which I’d thought looked too hard before…

    You did a fantastic job with the form! And I love the subject you chose for it. What a wonderful and inspiring triolet! Love it. 🙂

      Thanks Cubby. I found it really hard but I felt proud of myself once it was done (not necessarily proud about the quality of the poem, more than I had tried and finished!)

      Thanks for the encouragement.
