Goodbye is a terrible word.
So final.
As we said goodbye today,
To a man well-loved,
I thought myself French…
This is not goodbye,
I thought,
But au revoir.
[We said au revoir to Great Grandpa Geoff today. His recent death inspired my very first poem – A ripe old age ]
[This poem inspired ‘Farewell‘ – a beautiful poem by Cubby you may also be interested to read.]
I agree, goodbyes sound so final. Not goodbye, not when there are still hellos in our heart.

You’re so right.
We’ll always remember and so it’s never goodbye.
Not ever.

This is sad Pooky, and Im so sorry you had to say au revoir. But this poem and others of yours I have read show you have a healthy outlook on death which has to be a good thing. Xx

Thank you – I hope so. We will certainly do lots of remembering which I think is important.

I too had a family member pass away recently and found inspiration from the funeral day.
