We’re here for you,
We know you’re blue,
We’ll do whatever, we can do.
We understand,
We’ll hold your hand,
We know that on your feet, you’ll land.
You’re still our friend,
Your needs, we’ll tend,
Depression won’t, our friendship rend.
But it’s all lies,
It’s no surprise,
When friendship fades and fails and dies.
[Today’s poem is inspired by the NaPoWriMo prompt to write a poem where each line is a lie.]

I’m not usually a fan of that sort of ryming pattern, but I really did like that one. Very deep, very powerful. I’m deffinitly going to keep coming back to your page. I would really appreciate it if you could check out my blog and let me know what you think

To say this is a load of bumpkin Pooky would be a lie, but in keeping with the theme I would think. Awfully done!!!!

I’ve experienced this after the death of my son and then my husband. Yes a few friends have talked the talk then walked away, but I’ve also got some wonderful friends, and I’ve gained some new friends. It’s these special people I try to focus on.
I get that some people can’t cope with depression or grief, I just wish they wouldn’t make promises they’re unable to keep.
I like this poem, Pooky, because it’s honest. If only people had the courage to say ‘I’m really sorry for what you’re going through, but for reasons I don’t understand I find I can’t deal with your pain.’
Another wonderful, thought provoking poem, Pooks. x

Thank you Tricia (how are you by the way? You seem to be visiting more again?)
I think it is very hard to be honest when the truth is hard to hear isn’t it and people would rather tell a ‘white lie’ only those white lies can feel really rather black when you’re on the receiving end..

Hi Pooky
You wrote this on my birthday, which is quite appropriate, you read my story on Nancy’s blog, a lot of my comfort eating was so people wouldn’t have to know how sad I was, I didn’t want them to have to deal with it!
I love this poem!

It’s amazing how many layers of masks and mirrors we end up wrapped up in at times. Some of the layers we wrap ourselves in, others we’re wrapped in by those who care about us. But we end up just lost in the middle somewhere…
I hope you had a good birthday?

So far from how I felt not so long ago, and all because of my awesome friends 🙂

OH that’s so fabulous. Where would we be without awesome friends (actually, let’s not dwell too much on that and just be thankful for them). Dancing sounds good! I have a friend who does rapper which I’d never heard of but it’s amazing to watch!

I have heard if rapper, but only recently, I hadn’t heard if it until I got into Morris 🙂
I have met such awesome friends through dancing…I am indeed thankful!

I think it looks like a lot of fun!
I grew up in Ilfracombe, a funny little town by the sea in North Devon, at school we learnt country dancing and how to do the Maypole which we’d do during ‘Victorian Week’ (which I thought happened everywhere until I was 12!) and some of the teachers would do Morris Dancing. It was ace!

I know Ilfracombe my grandparents used to live in Newton Abbot 🙂 I loved country dancing and maypole dancing at primary school, shame it took me until I was 35 to take up Morris dancing!
